A Simple Weekly System for Coaching a Team
When you coach a team, good intentions are not enough. Each person needs a clear goal, a place to capture decisions, and a reliable follow-up rhythm. A simple system can make that work easier without turning every conversation into paperwork.
Start with one weekly check-in. Ask each person what moved forward, what is blocked, and what support they need. Write down one next action, its owner, and a date. At the next check-in, begin with that action. This creates continuity and gives your team a shared record of progress.
Keep your tools small. A meeting agenda helps you spend time on decisions instead of status recaps. A goal tracker makes progress visible. A delegation worksheet clarifies what success looks like before work changes hands. Choose the template that solves the problem you have now, then add another only when it helps.
Short video guidance can show a coach how to run these conversations in practice. Pair a lesson with a reusable worksheet: watch the example, apply it to one real team issue, and review the result at the next meeting.
